Precious Moments #6 - The Switch

The greatest thing when having a pet is knowing that when you have to go out of town and can't take them with, they are in good hands.  We had to board the dogs for 2 nights last weekend as we went out of town.  In doing so, I had high hopes for some good bonding between them.  You be the judge.  . . .  The first night after I picked them up from boarding, I woke up in the middle of the night as always to use the restroom.  When I came back in I noticed that Rusty was not sleeping at the front of his crate with his head resting on the edge.  I looked in the small crate which is Ginger and saw red fur so I thought ok. . . where is Rusty?  I couldn't see him anywhere and I walked through the rest of the apartment checking.  I called out his name a couple of times.  When I walked back in the bedroom, I see Rusty's head sticking out of Ginger's small little crate . . . . now where the heck was Ginger.  A little worried she was stuck somewhere only being 3 1/2 months old, I called out for her.  It was about the 3rd shout out and then I saw the 2 paws stretching out from the depths of the huge crate.  I can only assume that Rusty kicked Ginger out of her crate since he continually crawls in there periodically as if to stake his claim since it was his crate first.

. . . The bonding comes from the next night about 4 a.m. when Ginger wants out of her crate.  I pull her out and lay her on a blanket on my bed.  So as not to have issues, I grabbed Rusty and placed him on the same blanket.  Half asleep trying to get back into bed, I see that they have both settled on the foot of the bed, on the side that I sleep.   I tried to politely move them over with my feet with no success.  When I get up to walk over to the other side of the bed to crawl in, I see the 2 puppies, literally intertwined and sound asleep.  I wanted to grab my camera but I couldn't see to keep my eyes open long enough.

. . that same morning, I was in the shower and the 2 puppies always lay on the rug next to the tub and wait for me to come out.  Curious. . . I quietly pulled back the curtain to see what they were up to and that Ginger is curled up next to Rusty with her head resting on Rusty's back staring up at me.  Where's the camera when you need one?

. . . I'm not sure if this pic really says bonding to the unknowing but trust me . . ."das is guut"!

Precious Moment #5 - The vet visit

So I took Ginger to the vet to get her Bordetella shot today and decided well. . . . I'll take them both.  No need to get Rusty all worked up thinkin' he's missing something.  . . . Can I just say "WHAT THE HECK WAS I THINKING!"  Apparently, I was on drugs at the time.  On the way there. . . Ginger poops in the back of my SUV (I should have realized that when she gave me a hard time about getting in the car, she had a reason).  Had I known the vet was going to want a fecal sample at the time, I would have just brought the poop bag in.  Go Figure!  That could have been a win/win situation too!

Once we are put in a room, waiting for the vet, my poor Rusty is Anxt and crying thinking that he is the patient.  Ginger on the other hand thinks she is in play land trying to get his attention by biting his ear.  After the pre-exam, the vet comes in and lo and behold, its Rusty favorite dr.. . . Dr. Sheri.  So Rusty and I wait for Ginger. . .  her first real exam since we got her.

I think she is a drama queen. . . seriously!  Because the nurse came out with Ginger in her arms and her sad puppy face.  . . . drama.  Until she is put on the ground with her brother. . . and its "GO" time with her brother again.  Thank goodness, I was shown the clasp/hook at the front counter so that I could hook there leashes in there.  Oh yeah. . . did I mention the huge display sign that Rusty knocked over with brochures in it.  Then he thought it was cool & decided to jump all over it.

So. . we're done and I can't find my keys so I put my purse on the ground and tell the dogs (which sounds ridiculous now), help me find my keys! Ginger dives in sniffing around and when she comes up for air, I see that she has her own medicine bottle in her mouth.

By this time, I'm exhausted. . . I have to take the dogs home, put drops in Ginger's ear and leave to go back to work. Yeah. . . that was easy. . .That of course, was a sacracastic statement if you hadn't guessed!

Precious Moment #4

On the puppy front, it is something new everyday.  This morning they were both drinking out of the same water dish at the same time and playing so nicely. . . .  Then there was last night where I sat on the floor in between the two dogs because Rusty growled at Ginger for eating out of her own food dish.

Precious Moments #3

When the man in your life gives the kind of hug that says so many things at once. . . "Everything is going to be okay. . . I love you. . . .I will take care of you"!  I got that precious hug yesterday with a few kisses on the cheek and believe it or not, that is my romance.  That and the 2 dozen roses I received today for Valentines day with a red vase (my favorite color) did the trick!  He's a keeper.  . . but I knew that already.

Side Note #1

. . . . I started writing in this "BLOG" . . hmmm "BLOG" . . . why is it called that anyway.  It sounds like "BLAH".  . . . which would not be the description of anything I would want to read.  Anyhoo, I started writing on this "BLOG" because I really didn't think my friends on facebook would want to see my constant ramblings.  At least this way my friends can seek me out when they want to!  I know. . . "that's precious" in a sarcastic sort of way.  With that said, I'm going to make like a kindergardner and pull out my floor mat to take a nap under my desk.

Precious Moments #2

Have you ever tried desparately to accomplish tasks and literally feel like the age-old saying goes. . . ."1 step forward, 2 steps back".  Well, I sure feel like that today.

In trying to clean my apartment that seems to collect dust 10x quicker than the average living space, I stumbled upon a pool of water in the dining room/kitchen floor.  When I say "pool", I truly mean like a little kids swimming pool.  Come to find out . . . Its "THE WASHER"!!  NO WAY!!  This just wasn't happening . . . .not only was there water all over but the washer was full of towels.  I had about 4 dry bath towels to sop up all this water.  But the good news is. . . the washer was too full and overflowed so it was not broken and no pipes were leaking.  The dogs had a great time playing in the water and I now have a super clean floor.  Ok. . .maybe not super, but pretty darn close.  So really, I would have to call it "EVEN".  The happy dogs and the clean floor brings me all the way back to my "1 step forward".  It's all good!!

Precious Moments #1

I've never been much of a "blogger" and every time I try to write in a diary of some sort, I never seem to keep it up.  I decided to start writing down some thoughts, good thoughts, great moments some of which I'm able to keep a diary of through my photos but some things I wasn't able to capture with a photo and decided that I wanted to share with anyone who was willing to read . . . .its a precious moment with our puppies this morning.  We have two cavalier king charles spaniels that are Ruby Red in color.  The boy cavalier "Rusty" is almost a year and the female cavalier "Ginger" is 3 1/2 months old.  We've only had her for 4 days.  It was a little rough in the beginning as there was alot of jealousy from Rusty.  After a couple of days, things started to improve and they began playing with each other which is what we really hoped for.  With that said. . ..

Here is my Precious Moment #1
I was getting ready for work this morning trying to look presentable with the little time that I had and Ginger would not stop licking my ankles and jumping on me.  I turn around and looked at Rusty and asked, "Can you please help me out"?  "Can you get her out of here and go play"?  He just gave me a look. . hesitated . . . and then went over to Ginger with almost a growl and nudged her in the side.  She didn't budge.  He attempted it again.  No reaction.  So he turned around and headed towards the living room like he'd given up.  As much as I try to ignore this little creature licking me, it was very difficult.  It was only a few minutes later and Rusty had returned with a rope toy and she took the bait.  Ginger gripped onto the other end with her baby teeth and he led her out to the living area where they began to play tug o' war with the rope toy.

Honestly, I'm not quite sure what to think. . .coinsidence?  I'm not so sure.
